Over a year ago, George and I cancelled all of our SBC services to boycott SBC renaming "Pac Bell Park" to "SBC Park". This included Cingular, which used to be part of the SBC mega-corporation. This week, it turns out, SBC decided that your privacy is no longer important, and they have the authority to share it with any number of their many subsideraries. Furthermore, if you "opt-out" of the information sharing, your monthly bill will increase! Talk about a sad, sad day for privacy. Here is the article about SBC invading its customers.

Bay Street in Emeryville has the newest, nicest movie theatre in the east bay after opening a two years ago. Parking was free and we would frequent the establishment, often stopping at Asqew Grill for dinner. But in the past week, Bay street has started charging for parking. Not that I'm cheap or anything, but I'll be frequenting a different movie theatre and pre-movie restaurant now; one that is not at Bay Street.
Sign the petition to reinstate free parking at Bay Street
My favorite comment: "paying for parking is clearly racist" :)

Apparently others had the same idea... oh well.
Canada's immigration officials report their Web site is being flooded by Americans. A new record was set within hours of Bush's victory speech Wednesday. Canadian officials say the hits on their Web site seem to be more than casual surfing. The visitors were looking at requirements for immigration status. Canadian officials say Americans who want to move to Canada won't get any special treatment. There are taxes and fees of about 15-hundred dollars Canadian [$.37US] and a waiting period of up to a year.

I'm moving to Canada. No, seriously. As soon as I graduate. Move to a country with small business initiatives and universal health care. Europe sounds nice too. Mmmm skiing.
